Resource Sharing/Delivery
SAMMIE’s role in regional Interlibrary Loan [ ILL ] is as a convener of the major lenders and as a facilitator for members having trouble requesting or getting materials.
Regional Public Library systems (Pioneerland, Plum Creek) and Rice Memorial Hospital offer interlibrary loan to other SAMMIE member libraries. SAMMIE staff is available to work with members to assure access to the materials needed.
ILL Delivery is determined by the lending agency.
Communications
SAMMIE is dedicated to open, multidirectional communications with and among member libraries. We strive to keep members informed about library matters on local, state and national levels.
Tools of communication:
• A newsletter - available in paper and electronic format
• A web site [ www.sammie.org ]
• Hosting member libraries web pages
• An electronic announcement list
Continuing Education
SAMMIE works to offer a variety of workshops and training opportunities to member libraries. Offerings are developed locally, in conjunction with others in the region, and at the state and national levels.
SAMMIE offers continuing education scholarships to individuals and Staff Development Grants to libraries or groups of libraries.
Advocacy
SAMMIE actively works with MLA/Memo legislative initiatives. Members are kept informed through the Newsletter, SAMMIENews electronic list and personal contact.
Funding
SAMMIE provides access to the Foundation Directory Online for all member libraries and their patrons, through subscriptions at two member libraries.
Consulting
SAMMIE is available as a consultant on specific library issues confronting any member library.
