MLA 2011 at Duluth by Holly Martin Huffman/Marshall-Lyon County Library

Because of a SAMMIE scholarship , I was able to attend the 2011 MLA Conference in Duluth. It was a wonderful place to meet other librarians, to hear what is happening in Minnesota libraries, and to learn what's new / what's hot for public libraries. I especially enjoyed the book talk sessions and the presentation of Anita Silvey (the Sharon Lerner Lecture). One of the most interesting discussions involved some very thought-provoking comments from the audience in the session "E-books: What's All the EXCITEMENT About?" Issues came up about the delivery of e-books (e.g. affordability for both libraries and the consumer) that I've been mulling over ever since. So, again, thank you SAMMIE for the opportunity to listen to and learn from others at the MLA.  Holly Martin Huffman/Marshall-Lyon County Library
